| View in browser 👋 Hi there! In this edition of The Geodata Insider, we're celebrating the first anniversary of the Dynamics 365 data model. 3:00 minute read 🌏 1st Anniversary of our Dynamics 365 data model 🏞️ France: Postal & address system update 🔎 Monthly changes 🏹 The origin of French lieux-dits 1st Anniversary of our Dynamics 365 data model A year ago, we launched our Dynamics 365 data model, built in a Microsoft-ready format with a consistent global structure.   It reduces data inconsistencies and eliminates time-consuming transformations.   The dataset is curated from over 1,500 authoritative sources, covering countries, administrative levels, cities, and postal codes worldwide.   The result: a reliable foundation that gives your team the flexibility to strengthen your current setup or expand into new markets. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to learn more about this data model. France: Postal & address system update France is standardizing its addressing system nationwide. Under the "3DS Law" (Loi 3DS), every municipality must assign official street names and house numbers to all properties.   As part of this reform, traditional lieux-dits, named localities without street names or house numbers, are being replaced by structured, official addresses.   We've reflected these changes in our latest Postal and Street dataset update. MONTHLY CHANGES  In April, we updated 59,385 rows in our postal database. The origin of french lieux-dits Ever wondered why some French addresses don't have a street name? Before modern addressing systems existed, rural France relied on lieux-dits, "named places", to identify specific plots of land, farms, or hamlets.   These names weren't assigned by any authority. Communities created them organically, often reflecting the shape of the land, a former owner's name, or a historical event.   Today, France holds millions of lieux-dits, many still visible in cadastral records and on topographic maps.  The 3DS Law doesn't erase them; it layers official street addresses on top, preserving the history while bringing the data into the modern era.   Follow us on LinkedIn for more geographical facts like this!
