How we kept your ZIP code data up to date in 2025

In 2025, thousands of ZIP codes changed worldwide. Your operations weren’t affected because maintaining that complexity isn’t something you manage alone. This is exactly the kind of challenge GeoPostcodes acts as a long-term data partner for.

ZIP code updates in 2025

Country updates

Updated Postal Boundaries in Lithuania and Ukraine

We’ve refreshed our postal boundary data for Lithuania and Ukraine, with a strong focus on large cities. This update integrates additional postal codes, reduces outliers, and cleans geometries.

Postal Boundaries in Vilnius, Lithuania

What this means for you: Broader postal code coverage, cleaner boundary shapes, and fewer multipolygons.

Administrative divisions update in Italy

We’ve implemented the latest administrative changes in Sardinia. Provincia del Sud Sardegna has been split into four new provinces, and Sassari has been upgraded to a Città Metropolitana. These changes are now linked to the latest official statistical codes from ISTAT (Italian National Institute of Statistics).

What this means for you: Up-to-date administrative structures fully aligned with official Italian statistics.

Post Towns introduced in Serbia & Slovenia

To better align with the recommended address formats in Serbia and Slovenia, we’ve introduced the post_town field for both countries.

What this means for you: Improved address validation and writing accuracy. All other address fields remain unchanged in granularity and definition.

The furthest point from Earth’s center

Did you know that Mount Everest isn’t the point on Earth farthest from its center?

That title belongs to Mount Chimborazo, a 6,263-meter inactive volcano in Ecuador.

While Everest is higher above sea level, the Earth itself isn’t a perfect sphere; it bulges at the equator and flattens at the poles.

Because Chimborazo sits almost exactly on the equator, this bulge pushes its summit farther out into space.

Chimborazo peak

As a result, Chimborazo’s peak is about 6,384.4 km from Earth’s center, while Everest’s summit is roughly 6,382.3 km away.
